YOUR WEB TOOLS
So now you have a Community Web Site ...
what exactly can you do with it? We thought it would be
helpful to see all the possibilities on a single list.
Next to each tool you'll see where to find it on your
Web site. If you can't figure out how to use the tool
you're interested in by experiment or intuition, just
click on the circled question mark symbol on that page,
which always gives you "context-friendly" help - in
other words, instructions specific to the feature you're
working on. If you still have questions, call the
Community Web Sites staff at (314) 340-8323 or email us
at websites@post-dispatch.com. |

Add
pages |
|
Your Web
site is unlimited in size. You can add as many
pages as you want, and each can be as long as you
want. You can choose among four
types: |
|
Web Site
Manager, Pages
area | | |
'Publishing' page |
|
You build this type of page out of
postings created using our Web tools. (This is
your ordinary, everyday sort of page - like most
pages on most Community Web Sites.) |
|
Web Site
Manager, Pages
area | | |
Freeform page (imported pages) |
|
You
build this type of page from HTML, image and other
files, which you can either create from scratch or
import from Web-design software like FrontPage,
Publisher, PageMill, NetObjects or
Dreamweaver. |
|
Web Site
Manager, Pages
area | | |
Online form (questionnaire) |
|
You can
create questionnaires, application forms, polls
and surveys using this type of page. You can
arrange to have responses to the questionnaires
sent to your email address. |
|

Framed page (link to another
site) |
|
Use this
page to link to another Web site, so that the
other site's home page becomes a page on your own
Web site. Click here for a related
lesson. |

Delete
pages |
|
Everything on your Web site can be
undone, if you choose - every posting, every page.
You can delete or change the purpose of any page
using the Page Shuffler. |
|
Web Site
Manager, Pages area, "Change Page Order/Delete
Pages" | | |
Rearrange pages |
|
You can
change the order of your pages and you can
designate "top-level" pages (think of them like
sections in a magazine) and "sub-pages" (the
individual articles in the sections) using Page
Shuffler. Click here for a related
lesson. |
